Relax and enjoy tea on the cushions in the common room while the golden sunlight streams in through the large glass-paneled windows. Rise early in the morning and meditate at our lovely Buddhist chapel. Subtle electric lighting, supplemented by kerosenelamps, provides the evening illumination. The Ladakh Sarai is committed to minimizing our impact on the fragile ecosystem around Leh, and also to promoting traditional Ladakhi culture.

All water is heated by solar panels, our yurts are low to the ground and made of local bamboo and canvas, and we minimize our electrical dependency. Plentiful gardens adorn winding pathways through the resort, and the diverse arbor grove provides shade for our yurts. The Sarai is surrounded by the farmland of the small village of Ayu, so it is sure to stay quiet and maintain a neighborhood feel for years to come. Our friendly staff wear traditional Ladakhi dress and treat each guest with familiar Ladakhi hospitality. Each room is decorated with local materials and adorned with fine crafts.
